Private LLM

A private LLM is an engineering choice, not a finished product.

PNEUOMA can scope organization-specific language systems. Private deployment, private data handling, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, and custom model work are different jobs. This page describes options to discuss. It does not describe a system already running for a customer.

Options that can be scoped

  • Retrieval over an organization's own documents, with the sources shown to the reviewer.
  • Retrieval-augmented generation, which looks up material and then drafts from it.
  • Private infrastructure or a chosen model provider. The choice is part of the project.
  • Role-based permissions and data-access boundaries designed for that organization.
  • Audit logging, evaluation against sample questions, and a required human review step.
  • Integration with systems the organization already uses.

Terms that are not interchangeable

  • Private deployment means where the software runs. It does not by itself prove the data is isolated.
  • Private data processing is a handling rule. It has to be designed and reviewed.
  • Retrieval-augmented generation uses existing documents. It does not train a new foundation model.
  • Fine-tuning adapts a model. Custom model development is a separate, larger undertaking.
  • None of these options remove the need for a person to check the output.
